Huws Gray appoints first Showroom Director as investment continues

Huws Gray has appointed James Davis as its first-ever Showroom Director as the national merchant continues to invest in and expand its showroom offering.

Davis joins Huws Gray with more than 20 years of experience across the retail and builders’ merchant sectors. He began his career with Homebase before going on to hold a number of senior leadership positions with Magnet and Benchmarx Kitchens and Joinery.

In his new role, Davis will lead Huws Gray’s national showroom strategy, with responsibility for optimising the company’s showroom estate and strengthening the customer experience across its branches.

The appointment comes as Huws Gray continues a major programme of investment in its showrooms. The business has renovated 80% of its showroom estate over the past 12 months.

Recent refurbishment projects have been completed at branches in Penrith, Dyffryn, Grimsby, Stamford, Lincoln, Sutton in Ashfield and Nuneaton.

The upgraded showrooms are designed to provide a more consistent customer experience, with a particular focus on showcasing Huws Gray’s range of National Trust kitchens, which are exclusively available through the merchant.

Davis said the appointment comes at an important stage in the development of Huws Gray and its showroom proposition.

“I’m incredibly excited to join Huws Gray at such a pivotal point in the development of both the Group and the showroom proposition.

“I look forward to leveraging my experience to build on the investments being made here, further strengthening our showroom offering and supporting our colleagues to deliver an outstanding service and customer-focused approach.”

Huws Gray said its investment in showrooms represents an important growth driver for the business, with the company reporting encouraging results against the underlying market during the first five months of 2026.

Daksh Gupta, CEO of Huws Gray, said the business would continue to invest in its showroom estate as it looks to drive sales growth.

“I’m delighted to continue our investments in our showrooms, including welcoming James to Huws Gray.

“With considerable sector experience and expertise, we look forward to benefitting from James’ insights as we continue to drive this area of the business.

“We will continue to focus on investing in our estate, providing an excellent customer experience and showcasing our attractive product range to accelerate sales growth.”
