Dan Storer and Dave Stretton started on the merchant’s Management Training Programme in September 1996 and now lead regions in the Midlands and East of England.
Two Travis Perkins regional directors are celebrating 30 years with the business, having joined on the same day in September 1996.
Dan Storer, Regional Director for Birmingham and the West Midlands, and Dave Stretton, Regional Director for Cambridgeshire and Suffolk, both started on the merchant’s Management Training Programme, which has recently been relaunched.
After completing a Higher National Diploma, the pair followed almost identical career paths. Both became assistant branch managers and went on to run branches, with more than 20 years between them as branch heads. They were each promoted to regional director in 2014 and have held their current roles for over a decade.
Storer said the business has changed significantly during his career, growing from far fewer branches when he started to more than 500 today. He said Travis Perkins has a family feel among its colleagues, customers and suppliers, and that he is lucky to love his job.
Stretton said he was unsure what he wanted to do after leaving school, and described joining the programme as “one of the best decisions I have ever made”. He credited the people he met and the business’s support for his progression, and said putting customers and colleagues first is a big part of why he enjoys the job.
