Etex Building Performance has appointed Si Gibson as Technical Director for its specialist construction brands, Siniat and Promat, as the business continues to strengthen its technical leadership and commitment to fire safety and product performance.
Gibson joins Etex from Wrekin, where he served as Technical Director, bringing extensive experience in construction manufacturing, technical leadership, product development and research.
In his new role, he will lead the continued expansion of the testing programmes for passive fire protection specialist Promat and drywall manufacturer Siniat, building on the enhanced testing and competency framework already established across the business.
The appointment comes as Etex continues to invest in product testing, compliance and technical excellence. Both Siniat and Promat have undertaken extensive fire testing programmes, including early adoption of testing to the latest EN standards ahead of their implementation.
The business has also invested in raising competency across its workforce, with all technical and sales employees required to complete the IFE Level 3 qualification in Passive Fire Protection. Siniat was also among the first manufacturers to sign up to the Construction Code of Product Information (CCPI), reinforcing its commitment to transparency and best practice across the construction sector.
Commenting on his appointment, Gibson said: “The construction industry has undergone a considerable shift in recent years and the increased focus on testing standards and competency is a positive step forward.
“Siniat and Promat are well placed to support the industry with safer, compliant and fully tested internal wall and passive fire protection systems, but there is still more to do. Collaboration across the supply chain will be critical in expanding knowledge, improving testing and making it easier to deliver safer buildings.
“The industry cannot rely on legislation alone to drive change. Manufacturers, suppliers and the wider supply chain all have a responsibility to raise standards and demonstrate best practice.”
Gibson added that Etex Building Performance has already taken significant steps to support the industry, including accepting design liability for its system designs and investing in extensive classification reporting to help reduce risk throughout the construction process.
He said he is looking forward to working with partners across the industry to continue improving safety, efficiency and long-term building performance.
