GPH Builders Merchants has launched GPH Trade Supplies, a new trade-focused business supplying contractors across the North of Scotland with fixings, ironmongery, power tools, PPE and site consumables.
The new operation is based at a specialist branch in Ellon, Aberdeenshire, and is aimed at a wide range of customers, from sole traders and local joiners to national contractors working on major infrastructure, commercial and public sector projects.
The launch represents a significant expansion for the independent, family-owned merchant, which was founded in Inverurie in 1982.
GPH has established itself as a leading supplier of building materials, timber, landscaping and civils products across the North East of Scotland. The company says the new business will complement its existing offer by providing contractors with a dedicated destination for the specialist products required to complete projects.
For existing GPH customers, the new branch will provide a wider range of services under one roof. Contractors purchasing timber, doors and joinery products from GPH can now also source ironmongery solutions through the specialist team at GPH Trade Supplies.
Power tools are another key focus, with GPH investing in extensive displays and product ranges as it returns to its roots as a local power tool specialist.
The branch stocks the latest cordless technology and provides customers with product advice and aftersales support from an experienced team.
GPH Trade Supplies also offers workwear, safety footwear and PPE, alongside an in-house garment customisation service. Contractors can have workwear personalised with company logos and branding using professional heat-press technology.
The business says the new branch has been developed around making it easier for contractors to source a complete range of products from a single supplier.
Its offering ranges from everyday site essentials, including fixings and welfare consumables, through to architectural ironmongery packages and premium cordless power tool systems.
The branch is managed by James Grove, whose experience and involvement have been central to establishing the new operation.
Grant Shewan, Managing Director of GPH Builders Merchants, said: “For many years we’ve supplied thousands of trade customers with the heavy building materials needed to complete projects across the North of Scotland. However, we recognised there was an opportunity to better support those same customers with a dedicated specialist offering for power tools, ironmongery, fixings and site consumables.”
He added: “GPH Trade Supplies fills that gap perfectly. We’ve invested heavily in creating a business that can compete with the very best specialist suppliers in the UK while retaining the personal service, flexibility and local relationships that independent merchants are known for.”
According to Shewan, the new business has been designed to support contractors of all sizes, from sole traders seeking product advice to larger contractors requiring technical ironmongery packages and large-scale supply.
“We’re incredibly proud of what James Grove and the team have achieved and look forward to welcoming both existing and new customers through the doors,” he said.
