Makita launches cordless rebar cutter with faster cutting performance

Makita has launched a new cordless steel rebar cutter designed to give trade professionals greater mobility and faster cutting performance on site.

Makita has launched a new cordless steel rebar cutter designed to give trade professionals greater mobility and faster cutting performance on site.

The SC001GZK Steel Rebar Cutter, powered by Makita’s 40VMax XGT battery platform, can cut through 16mm rebar in 1.7 seconds – 65% faster than the manufacturer’s previous 18V model.

The cordless design removes the need for a power cable, helping tradespeople access confined or difficult-to-reach areas while reducing potential trip hazards. The tool weighs 6kg when fitted with a BL4025 battery.

Makita says the cutter’s spark-free operation produces minimal debris, helping to create a cleaner and safer working environment.

The SC001GZK features a 360-degree rotating head and adjustable stopper, allowing users to position rebar securely at a 90-degree angle for accurate cuts.

Designed for high-volume applications, the cutter can deliver up to 250 cuts per charge when used with Makita’s 2.5Ah BL4025 lithium-ion battery. The battery is compatible with the wider range of Makita 40VMax XGT tools.

Kevin Brannigan, Marketing Manager at Makita UK, said: “The new 40VMax Steel Rebar Cutter represents everything that our XGT range stands for. It makes light work of the toughest tasks with a powerful, cordless battery.

“It offers a precise and powerful performance that professionals can trust, along with the benefits of enhanced safety, efficiency and mobility on site.”
